Availability and purchases
KnightSight is being prepared for beta testing. This website does not sell the app or accept payments. A paid release, price and supported devices will be stated in the relevant app-store listing before purchase. Store purchase, refund and distribution rules apply to transactions made through that store. For Apple installations, the license agreement specified in the App Store applies; this page has not been submitted as a custom Apple EULA.
Use and ownership
Use KnightSight lawfully and respect applicable intellectual-property rights. Original KnightSight application code, branding and sound effects remain the property of Coded by Jim. Installing the app does not grant a general right to redistribute its proprietary parts. Your games, positions and other content remain yours. Mandatory legal rights, including applicable consumer and interoperability rights, remain available.
Open-source components
Stockfish 18, its UCI host and other third-party components have their own licenses. Their applicable rights to use, copy, modify and redistribute take precedence over narrower restrictions in these product terms for those components. Stockfish and the UCI host are GPL-licensed; the Cburnett chess artwork is CC BY-SA 3.0. See licenses and source information. You can export the complete corresponding Stockfish source from the app without an internet connection.
Analysis and beta software
Engine scores and coaching information support learning and may contain errors. Beta builds may change, stop being available or contain defects. Export important games before changing or removing an installation. Coded by Jim provides app support; Apple does not provide maintenance for KnightSight. Nothing here excludes warranties, remedies or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Privacy and updates
See the privacy policy for local app data, support, website hosting and TestFlight. An app release may change features or device requirements; the applicable store listing and release information identify those changes.
Applicable law
Dutch law applies to these product terms, subject to mandatory protections you have under the laws of your country of residence. Any applicable consumer right to bring a claim in a competent court remains unaffected.
